Medical evaluations must be given as a way to track changes in respiratory health and any changes weight, surgery, dental work, scarring and eyewear will affect the level of protection it offers! Facial hairis a no-no. Anything that can break the respirator seal can impact protection level.
In standard 29 CFR 1910.134 and 1926.103, OSHA says you must provide a respirator if your employees work in environments that include any of the following:
•Insufficient oxygen •Harmful dusts
•Fogs •Smokes
•Mists •Fumes
•Gases •Vapors
•Sprays •Silica
