Watch your head!

You’re required to have the right kind of hard hat if there's any potential for head injury from falling objects.

The first thing you need to know when choosing any kind of head protection are the risks that you’re exposing yourself to. Exposed beams, pipes, electrical systems or falling objects are just a few of the most common hazards on any job site.

Remember when you were a kid and your teacher told you to put on your ‘thinking cap’? Well, your old ‘thinking cap’ has a whole new meaning when you’re on a dangerous job site.

Wearing the right head protection is the only way to be sure you don’t end up with a serious blow to your melon.

Check out some of these tips on choosing hard hats for work to make sure you don't do any more damage to your head than you already have!

You know there’s something else to watch out for.

Some of you are walking around with slick hair styles and fancy-schmancy gel in your hair. Who knows what that stuff does to the integrity of your hard hat and its parts? Ever think of about that? Well, now you have. So think twice before prettying yourself up before you head out to work.

It’s best to follow the requirements for inspections and suspensions change-outs for head protection. Just in case.

And for Pete’s sake, get rid of that hard hat if it’s sustained any kind of impact.
