7 Things You Didn’t Know About Hard Hat Safety: Bacon's Safety Tip

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that in some applications you need to protect your noggin. Whether it’s from low overhead beams, the potential for falling objects or exposure to exposed electricity, hard hats play a valuable role. Caring for them is not as cut and dry as it may seem. There’s actually a lot more to consider.

 

How confident are you with your hard hat knowledge?

 

You’re probably familiar with OSHA’s requirements on a jobsite. These rules below shouldn’t come as any shock. 

The folks at OSHA say:


General Industry: CFR 1910.135 Employer shall ensure each employee exposed to falling objects shall wear a protective helmet. If that worker is exposed to electrical shock hazard they must have specially designed head protection.

Construction Industry: CFR 1926.100 Employees working in areas with the potential for head injury from impact, falling objects, or from electrical shock and burns, shall be protected by protective helmets.
